What is Pain?
Pain is an uneasy feeling in the body that can be called as an alarm for something that is wrong in it. In other words, it can be said that pain is the body’s own way of informing the brain that there is a problem. The pain can be stabbing, steady, aching, throbbing, pulsating or pinching. It
can be mild or severe, bearable or unbearable, limited to a small area of the body to a gradually spreading one. Pain can stay just for a few days or go on for months or even longer. Long-term pain ultimately becomes co-existing with the body and a part of an individual’s existence.
According to The International Association for the Study of Pain, pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage or described in terms of such damage. In medical examinations, the presence of pain is used to diagnose a problem in a certain region as it is the indication of a disease.
Pain is usually a symptom of something disease or problem. But if left untreated and uncured, it gradually becomes a disease itself, and mostly an incurable one. Therefore, it is advised to reach out to the doctor as soon as one experiences any kind of pain.
